Qualifying event 2006
In 2005 I was a little late getting things started for the qualifying event but, in 2006, I intend to be more organized!
Here is the proposed schedule for the "between season" events:
June 16: Any new team wishing to play in the SWPL in the 2006-2007 season must let me know before midnight on 16 June. If more that one new team, from any zone, wishes to enter then only the one which finished higher in its zonal league will be accepted.
July: The qualifying event will be an all-play-all tournament (with SWPL rules) between a maximum of five teams (one from each zone and one team fighting relegation from the SWPL).
Aug 18: All teams playing in the 2006-2007 season should have sent me their "voting preference forms" by this date so I can sort out the fixture list. Click here for more details on how this works.
Sep 1: This will be Date "A" for round 1
Sep 29: The SWPL should start on about this date.
There are a couple of rules governing who may play in these qualifying events ...
No player who plays in half, or more, of the available matches in any SWPL season can represent a different club in the qualifying event which follows.
Similarly, no player who represents a club in a qualifying event may represent a different club, in the following SWPL season, in more than half of the matches.
